Rose Garden Morning

This was painted in the spring in the Rose Garden in Bentonsport, Iowa.

The composition was inspired by a Monet painting
"The Parc Monceau".
I found a reproduction in the book
"Impressionist Gardens" by Clare A.P. Willsdon.

I used a very similar palette as well.
It doesn't hurt to learn from the masters.

It is a painting that I was sorry to sell quickly.
It was in a show at the Fort Madison Area Art Association and it sold before the opening.

  1. It was a beautiful painting. I have sold the best but then again I can buy more art supplies to paint more paintings.
